The Tarsoconjunctival Flap for Lower Lid Reconstruction-Review of Literature and Case Series

چکیده
The eyelid region is one of the most common sites for nonmelanoma skin cancers. In fact, skin cancers of the eyelid, including basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma, account for five to ten percent of all skin cancers. Ninety five percent of these tumors are basal cell carcinomas or squamous cell carcinomas [1,2]. A lower-eyelid reconstruction after cancer extirpation or trauma is a challenging undertaking. Numerous options are available for lower lid reconstruction depending on the extent of the defect. We have used the Tarsoconjunctival flap for total and near total lower lid reconstruction, and this is an attempt to share our experience with the Tarsoconjunctival flap.

Modified Hughes procedure for reconstruction of large full-thickness lower eyelid defects following tumor resection
BACKGROUND Tarsoconjunctival flap advancement, or the Hughes procedure, is among the techniques of choice for reconstructing full-thickness lower eyelid defects so as to restore normal anatomy and function with the best possible cosmetic outcome. The purpose of this study is to report the outcome of a series of patients treated with a modified Hughes procedure following malignant tumor removal....
متن کاملA novel technique for full thickness medial canthal reconstruction; playing with broken lines
PURPOSE To introduce a new modification of transposition flap technique for reconstruction of the medial canthal region. METHODS This prospective study included 58 patients with the full thickness involvement of both upper and lower lid in the medial canthal area. Reconstruction of posterior lamella was performed by utilizing periosteal flaps and tarsoconjunctival grafts, and anterior lamella...
متن کاملReconstruction of Buccal Mucosa, Upper and Lower Lip Defect Using Free Radial Forearm Flap with Palmaris Longus Tendon: A Case Presentation
Introduction: Advanced lip carcinomas can invade adjacent structures. Performing surgery for these cancers will lead to defects in this anatomically and functionally important area and will cause post-op difficulties such as drooling, speech alterations and aesthetic considerations, if not properly managed. Case Report: In this study, we will introduce a radial forearm free flap with palmari...

Introduction: Reconstruction of intraoral soft tissue defects is important in restoring function and esthetic. In large defects, there will be demand for regional pedicle flaps or free flaps. Hard palate separates nasal and oral cavities. Due to the small surface area between flap and remaining palate after surgical resections, optimal blood supply of the flaps for hard palate reconstructions ...
متن کاملRetrospective analysis of reconstruction techniques after periocular basalioma excision.
The paper presents our approach to reconstruction after periocular basalioma (pBCC) excision, especially of large lower lid (LL) and medial canthal (MC) pBCC. Retrospective analysis of data of 123 patients with pBCC, confirmed on histologic examination (HE), operated in period from 1998 to 2006, was performed. Oncologic safety margins of 3 mm were marked after local anesthesia was administered....
